Plante Moran’s largest office is in Southfield, Michigan, “The Center of It All.” More than 500 staff members work in a highly visible, large, blue building that displays a FORTUNE “100 Best Companies to Work For” banner that’s noticeable from I-696 and M-10. Southfield is well-located as a business center, with 9,000 businesses and more than 100 “Fortune 500” companies. Southfield is close to downtown Detroit and easy to reach from several major highways.
Plante Moran is one of the top 10 employers in the city, along with Blue Care Network, Lawrence Tech University, and Providence Medical Centers. As our tagline states, we offer audit, tax, and consulting services, but that’s just the beginning. We have experts who specialize in employee benefits consulting, talent and organizational development, technology services, operations and process improvement, as well as a host of business advisory services.
Recognitions
Once again this year, we were recognized by FORTUNE magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” in America. This is our 14th year on the list. We are the highest ranked accounting firm to achieve this award.
Plante Moran has also been recognized by Vault.com, the Detroit Free Press, and the International Accounting Bulletin as a great place to work.
Going Green
Becoming more eco-conscious in our buildings is of great importance to the firm. Many of us pride ourselves on being responsible corporate and community citizens. We’re proud to state that we have the “healthiest building in Southfield” based on an air analysis of Southfield offices. In addition, we’ve made significant strides in the areas of building design and furnishings, energy efficiency, paper conservation, and environmental awareness/waste reduction.
Community Involvement
Through our Plante Moran Cares initiative, we’ve found a way to formally engage staff members in firm-sponsored volunteer activities. Each year we select a worthy charitable cause that all of our offices in Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio support.
Our most recent endeavor is sponsoring The Boys and Girls Clubs of America in the cities where we have offices. Our staff members have raised money through a variety of fundraising efforts and donated their time to help with projects at local clubs. Staff can learn about additional volunteer opportunities through our Plante Moran Volunteer Network; they simply sign up for their areas of interest (food & hunger, safety & shelter, education, etc.), and we send them an e-mail when an opportunity arises.
Fun Facts
It’s not always “all work and no play” around here. We host many events that offer our staff members a chance to interact with each other and relax. Here are just a few of the ways we enjoy ourselves at Southfield West: free Good Humor ice cream in the summer, Detroit Tigers opening day lunch, donuts & cider in the fall, chili cook-offs, school spirit and jeans days, team leagues (softball and bowling), and firm-provided dinners during busy season.
