H1 2010
The Plastics and Packaging M&A market showed further increases in activity in Q2 2010 highlighting a healthy market for transactions and a continuation of the positive trends from Q1 2010. Our research shows 193 transactions globally in the Plastics and Packaging industry during the first half of 2010 compared to 153 during H1 2009, a 26% increase driven by active buying among both financial and strategic parties.
This increase in M&A activity confirms a significantly improved outlook among processors and investors in the Plastics and Packaging industry, a viewpoint supported by several data sources including GDP growth and increased public company earnings. In Q2 2010, we saw increased activity from several of the industry consolidators as they continued to return to pre-recession acquisition strategies.
